Short Hospital Stay for Flu Treatment
Former US President Bill Clinton was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, following a brief admission due to a fever, as confirmed by his office. Clinton, now 78, had been treated for the flu at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Gratitude for Support and Medical Care
Angel Urena, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, took to social media to express gratitude for the medical care received and for the supportive messages from the public. “President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu,” Urena posted on X. “He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received.”
History of Health Concerns
This hospitalization adds to Clinton’s recent health history which includes a five-night stay in October 2021 for treatment of a blood infection. Additionally, in 2004, he underwent a significant quadruple bypass surgery due to heart disease, which prompted him to adopt a vegetarian diet and focus on healthier living, a lifestyle he has often discussed publicly.
Post-Presidency and Public Life
Since serving as President from 1993 to 2001, Clinton has remained active in public life, engaging in various diplomatic and humanitarian efforts despite the scandals that shadowed his administration. His health has continued to be of public interest, with his last notable health update in November 2022 when he tested positive for Covid-19. Clinton remains the second-youngest living former US president, following Barack Obama.
