Belgium’s fans were visibly upset at the final whistle in Stuttgart, with captain Kevin De Bruyne seemingly discouraging his teammates from acknowledging the crowd.
Belgium will face France in the next round, landing in the more challenging side of the draw alongside hosts Germany, Spain, and Portugal.
Ukraine’s campaign ended heartbreakingly, making them the first team not to progress with four points since the tournament’s expansion to 24 teams. This group was unique, as all teams were tied on points going into the final round.

Leandro Trossard replaced the suspended Dodi Lukebakio for Belgium, while Ukraine, missing key players due to injuries, switched to a three-back formation. Ukrainian fans honored fallen soldiers with a poignant banner, highlighting the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku missed several chances, while Ukraine’s Roman Yaremchuk posed a threat but couldn’t convert. Despite efforts from both sides, neither team managed to score, resulting in Belgium’s qualification and Ukraine’s exit from the tournament.
