In compliance with the labour unions’ directives, the management of Bayero University, Kano State, has suspended the ongoing 2022/2023 First semester undergraduate examinations and all other academic activities till further notice.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the acting Registrar of the university, Amina Abdullahi on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the decision to suspend academic activities followed the management’s resolution to join the nationwide strike embarked upon by NLC and TUC.
“It should be noted that the ongoing examinations are halfway through and as soon as the strike is over, the examinations will continue,” the statement concluded.
CRUX NEWS recalls that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Traders Union Congress (TUC), on Tuesday embarked on an indefinite nationwide strike over alleged brutalization of NLC’s president, Joe Ajaero in Imo State.
Consequently, all unions, including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in solidarity followed the directive issued by the labour unions to suspend their activities.
