The Sokoto State Police have confirmed a bandit attack in Giyawa village, Goronyo Local Government Area of the state, where four persons were confirmed dead.
The Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Rufai, said the perpetrators carted away valuables including livestocks and abducted eighteen persons from the village.
However, seven of the abducted victims luckily escaped and returned to their community where many residents have fled for safety.
Although, members of the community claimed that over thirty persons were abducted, the police maintained that only elevens persons remained in captivity.
The police assured the public that their personnels are on the trail of the assailants.
They also added that all efforts are being made to restore normality in the affected community and environment.
