Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah, who has won five Olympic gold medals, has recently appointed Reynaldo Walcott as her new coach after ending her partnership with Shanikie Osbourne earlier this month.
According to her management company, Andi Sports Management, the split from Osbourne was caused by a “breakdown in negotiations on a compensation package” sought by Osbourne.
Walcott is not new to coaching top athletes, as he has been working with another Jamaican sprinter, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, since the 2020 season.

Interestingly, Fraser-Pryce and Thompson-Herah have had a somewhat strained relationship in the past.
Thompson-Herah’s agency announced on Thursday that she and Walcott will be working together in preparation for the Paris Games, where she is set to defend her 100-meter and 200-meter titles.
This collaboration comes less than a year before the much-anticipated event, and fans are eager to see if the new partnership will result in further success for the Jamaican sprinter.
