The Chairperson of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Gbolahan Bolarin, has called on President Bola Tinubu to evaluate and sign the renegotiated agreement between ASUU and the Federal Government.
This move, he emphasized, is crucial to restoring efficiency in the Nigerian university system.
Prof. Bolarin made this appeal in Minna shortly after a peaceful protest by the union. The protest was held to express their grievances over unpaid salaries and allowances. University students joined the protest, holding placards with various inscriptions and chanting solidarity songs.

During a press conference following the protest, the ASUU chapter chairperson presented a detailed list of demands. He warned that failure to address these issues could lead to another industrial action.
Eze Nnabuike, President of the Students’ Union Government, led the students in solidarity with the academic staff. He highlighted that students suffer the most whenever lecturers go on strike.
Union members, speaking with journalists, remained resolute in their demands. They expressed hope that with the additional support from students, their voices would lead to a swift resolution and prompt payment of their dues.
