Arsenal’s injury list continues to grow as their rising star Bukayo Saka is now doubtful for their upcoming matches, according to manager Mikel Arteta who spoke to reporters ahead of their League Cup tie against Brentford on Wednesday.
The English forward sustained an injury during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, during which he scored and also made his 86th consecutive Premier League appearance, breaking an Arsenal record.
When asked whether Saka could miss their League Cup third-round trip to Brentford on Wednesday and the league game at home to Bournemouth on Saturday, Arteta said that it’s definitely a possibility.
In addition to Saka, midfielder Declan Rice is also on the injury list, as he has not trained since being forced off at half-time in the north London derby with a back issue.

Arteta expressed his concern about the growing list of players who are unavailable for selection, which includes Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Thomas Partey.
He said, “It is a long list…It is the situation that we have at the moment, and we need players back, that’s for sure.”
The manager added that he had hoped to rotate the squad for the Brentford match, but the injuries have hampered his ability to do so.
He also stated that some players have not had many minutes and they are going to have that exposure tomorrow.
Arteta remains confident despite the setbacks, and he hopes that the players will recover soon and be available for selection.
