Apple Inc. has recently issued a warning to its users in India and 91 other countries about a potential “mercenary spyware attack”.
The company sent out a threat notification email, informing targeted users that their iPhones may be remotely compromised by attackers.

Apple has been sending out these types of notifications several times a year since 2021 and has notified users in over 150 countries to date.

In October 20223, some Indian lawmakers shared screenshots on social media, revealing a notification from Apple that said, “Apple believes you are being targeted by state-sponsored attackers who are trying to remotely compromise the iPhone associated with your Apple ID”.
However, Apple did not attribute these threat notifications to any specific state-sponsored attacker.
