Oluwatobiloba Amusan, famously known as the Queen of Track, has triumphed in her 100m hurdles heat at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
The 26-year-old athlete showcased her speed by clocking an impressive 12.48 seconds, securing her position in the semi-finals.
Her remarkable performance comes after the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) temporarily banned her over whereabouts failure charges.
The AIU accused Amusan of missing three out-of-competition tests within a 12-month period, which constitutes an anti-doping rule violation. However, a disciplinary panel cleared her of any wrongdoing just two days before the championship began.
Amusan competed in Heat 5 alongside Ebony Morrison, Michelle Jenneke, Maayke Tjin-a-lim, Natalia Christofi, Nika Glojnaric, and Maayke Tjin-a-lim.
Despite a slow start, the world hurdles record holder finished ahead of Jamaican Champion Megan Tapper, who came in second with 12.51 seconds, and Australian Michelle Jenneke, who clocked in at 12.71 seconds.
Amusan’s impressive run of form saw her set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12 seconds at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, USA.
She also retained her Commonwealth Games title and defended her Diamond League title in a record-breaking season that saw her win the Nigerian, African, Commonwealth, World, and Diamond League titles.

Amusan’s victory in the heat places her in the semi-final, which will take place on Wednesday at 7:20 pm Nigerian time.
She is one of Nigeria’s medal hopefuls at the championship after a tough start, where Ese Brume finished fourth in the women’s long jump event on Sunday.
Nevertheless, Amusan’s impressive performance has instilled hope in her fans, and Nigerians, and they eagerly await her next race.
