In a significant crackdown, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, has arrested 48 suspected criminals for various offences across the state over the past week.
The suspects, including two females, were apprehended for crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, attempted murder, burglary, fraud with fake POS bank alerts, cultism, theft, flouting the anti-open grazing law, and assault.
Various exhibits recovered from the suspects and displayed included two cars, a live goat, a generating set, clothing materials, electric transformer cables, and fake dollar notes.
During a press briefing at the Amotekun Corps headquarters in Akure, Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of the corps, stated that all the suspects, some of whom were caught in the act, confessed to their crimes.
Adeleye revealed that over the past six months, more than 600 suspects apprehended by the corps are currently being prosecuted and would be sent to correctional facilities if found guilty.

He noted that the rate of kidnapping in the Ose Local Government Area has significantly reduced due to the constant patrolling by Amotekun corps in the area.
Commenting on the recent Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, Adeleye mentioned that the vigilance and surveillance by the Amotekun corps ensured minimal crime during the festivities. He warned those with criminal intentions to desist or leave the state, emphasizing that they would be apprehended by the corps.
