The Westen Nigeria Security Network (codenamed Amotekun Corps) in Osun has arrested three suspects in connection with the exhumation of bodies from graves and the removal of body parts for ritual purposes.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state capital, by the corps’ spokesperson, Adeniyi Brown.
He stated that the suspects, a 43-year-old vehicle mechanic, a 56-year-old driver, and a native doctor, were all apprehended by Amotekun operatives in Iwo.
According to him, the individuals were detained after intelligence was obtained about their heinous actions.
According to Brown, when probed, the suspects confessed to exhuming corpses from graves and selling body parts for money-making rituals.
He stated that the state’s commander of Amotekun, Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), had requested that the accused be turned over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
According to Brown, the corps commander urged locals to be more security vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhood to security services.
