Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, has expressed his desire to retain Marcus Rashford at the club, despite the 27-year-old’s recent comments suggesting he might be open to a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford. Rashford, who has been with United since his youth days, has seen a dip in form and was notably left out of the squad for the recent Manchester derby victory against City.
Amorim’s Support for Rashford
Amorim, who took over from Sporting Lisbon in November, addressed the media before the League Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, stating he had not yet spoken to Rashford about his future but remained supportive. “He’s our player and he’s ready for the next game,” Amorim noted, emphasizing the club’s need for big talents like Rashford. “So, he just needs to perform at the highest level and that is my focus. I just want to help Marcus.”
A New Challenge at United
Amorim portrayed the situation at United as a significant challenge, one that could serve as Rashford’s “new challenge”. He acknowledged the club’s current position, 13th in the Premier League, as a tough but exciting opportunity. “We have here a new challenge, it’s a tough one, for me it’s the biggest challenge in football because we are in a difficult situation and I already said that this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, when questioned about the speculation surrounding Rashford, dismissed any involvement in the discussion, highlighting the constant buzz around Manchester United. “There’s always noise about Manchester United… No interest. Don’t care. Not interested,” Postecoglou remarked, focusing instead on managing his own team.
Transfer Speculations
Despite rumors linking Rashford with a move to Tottenham, Postecoglou made it clear that such discussions do not occupy his focus, indicating a disciplined approach to transfer dealings at his club. He emphasized that Rashford’s situation is for Manchester United to handle, and he has no interest in speculating or engaging in transfer rumors.
