Al-Hilal secured their fourth Saudi Super Cup title after defeating Al-Ittihad 4-1 in Abu Dhabi. The Brazilian forward, Malcom, played a pivotal role in Al-Hilal’s victory, scoring two goals to help his team claim the title. The win not only extended Al-Hilal’s winning streak to 34 consecutive victories in all competitions but also put them in contention for a quadruple of trophies this season.
Jorge Jesus’ side dominated the game right from the start, with Malcom scoring an early goal just five minutes into the game following a brilliant one-two pass with Saleh Al-Shehri. However, Al-Ittihad’s Abderrazak Hamdallah equalized in the 21st minute by striking from the rebound after his penalty was saved by Al-Hilal’s Yassine Bounou.
Just before halftime, Al-Hilal went ahead again when As Salem Al-Dawsari struck from the edge of the area in the 44th minute. Malcom then scored his second goal of the game from close range after dribbling past Al-Ittihad captain Ahmed Hegazy. The substitute, Nasser Al-Dawsari, completed the rout, making it 4-1 in favour of Al-Hilal.
After the game, Malcom expressed his delight at scoring two goals and helping his team clinch their first title of the season. “It was a tough game, and we were thrilled to secure our first title of the season. We have other trophies to pursue,” he told SSC Channel.
The rivalry between Al Hilal and Al-Ittihad will be renewed in the King’s Cup semi-final on April 30. With Al-Hilal’s impressive form, they will be looking to continue their winning streak and secure a place in the final of the competition.
