Good News As Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Returns To Nigeria After Three Months Of Medical Leave.
Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has reentered Nigeria after a three-month medical sojourn in Germany.
He touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday afternoon.
Governor Akeredolu had embarked on this trip for medical attention in June, temporarily entrusting the state’s governance to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, after formally transferring power to him in an acting capacity through a letter to the House of Assembly.
Initially, on April 3, Governor Akeredolu had commenced a 15-day medical leave. Subsequently, on June 13, he extended his medical absence, granting Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa the reins of power. His leave had been prolonged indefinitely as of June 10.
The governor’s wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, confirmed his return with a concise message on her social media platforms, accompanied by a photograph of her husband, captioned “homebound.”
Reports indicate that Governor Akeredolu will make his way from Abuja to Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, before returning to Ondo State. An anonymous source close to the governor disclosed that members of his inner political circle are scheduled to convene with him on Friday in Ibadan.

The source stated, “Not everyone with the government received the message. No one can even say the exact person who sent the message. It is when we get to Ibadan that we will know all those who have been invited. I must tell you, we’re so happy to receive Oga (Akeredolu) back. God is indeed on the throne.”
Furthermore, the meeting is anticipated to encompass all members of the state executive council and House of Assembly. Governor Akeredolu is projected to return to Ondo State next week.
As Governor Akeredolu reclaims his role, his reappearance is anticipated to have significant repercussions on the political landscape of the state. In his capacity as the leader of the ruling party in the state, his return is poised to galvanize party members and supporters, fortifying their confidence and charting a clear course for the party’s trajectory in anticipation of the 2024 gubernatorial election.
