The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has commenced preparations for the upcoming 13th African Games scheduled to be held from March 8 to 23 in Ghana.
Given this, the federation has invited 26 players to camp ahead of the games.
The senior men’s handball national team of Nigeria has already begun intensive camping in Abuja as they gear up to compete in the handball event at the African Games.
The team had recently emerged victorious at the Africa Handball Nations Cup in Egypt, and as such, they will be the sole representative of Nigeria at the upcoming games.
The coach of the team, Solomon Yola, expressed his confidence in the abilities of the players and their readiness to represent the country well.
He disclosed that the players have been engaged in training activities since the beginning of the year and also participated in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Yola further stated that the ongoing camping exercise would be used to correct all the identified lapses in the team.
According to him, all the departments of the team will be thoroughly reinforced before they depart Nigeria for Ghana for the tournament.
Among the 26 players invited to the camping exercise are Joseph Gbawuan, Daniel Bello, Mohammed Anas, Salami Damilare, Shagari John, Solomon Agbaji, Dikko Ibrahim, Ojo Nohuoman, Iortyer Stephen, Olaye Mathew, Ani Obinna, Mohammed Abbas, Okwor Obinna, Cole Gbenga, Yusuf Faruk, Rotibi Gbenga, Sunday Samson, and Adamolugbe.
Others are Babatunde, Dele Gbenga, Igwekire Joseph, Atabo Sunday, Foloki Christian, Kasim Yazid, Ajibike Akanni, Sulaimon Olaitan, and Nwaiwu Patrick.
It is hoped that the team’s participation in the upcoming games will be a successful one, and they will make Nigeria proud.
