The Black Princesses of Ghana have been crowned champions of the women’s under-20 football event at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
The host team defeated Nigeria’s Falconets 2-1 to win the match at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Thursday.
Nigeria’s Loveth Edeh put the Falconets in the lead early in the game before Tracey Twum equalized in the 78th minute with a powerful strike, outplaying the Falconet’s goalkeeper.
Ghana’s Mukarama Abdulai scored the decisive goal in the 99th minute of extra time with a low shot from the edge of the box, defeating Faith Omilana, the Falconets’ goalkeeper.
This defeat ended the Falconets’ reign as the champions of the African Games.

The Falconets had secured their spot in the final by defeating Uganda 2-0, while Ghana booked their place in the final by overcoming the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal with a 3-1 victory.
In another match, Uganda claimed the bronze medal by beating Senegal 6-5 in a penalty shootout, concluding a thrilling game at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The 13th African Games, which started on March 8, will conclude on March 23. The games have taken place across the cities of Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast.
