Taiwo Awoniyi, the talented striker for both the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Nottingham Forest of England, recently shared his thoughts on the team’s chances of winning the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
In a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from England, Awoniyi spoke of the importance of unity on the pitch and how it could give the Super Eagles the edge they need to win the biggest football showpiece in Africa.
According to Awoniyi, the Super Eagles have all the qualities required to emerge victorious at the tournament.
He is confident that if they play as a unit, no other nation can stop them.
He also believes that with God on their side and the quality of players in the current Super Eagles team, they can achieve their goal.
Although Awoniyi is disappointed not to be part of the tournament, he has come to terms with his absence and believes that everything happens for a reason.
He acknowledged that the AFCON is a competition that every player would like to participate in at some point in their career.
Unfortunately, Awoniyi was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury he sustained while on club duty.
Despite this setback, he remained positive and hopeful about the team’s chances of success.
