In their first game at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023, the Atlas Lions of Morocco produced an impressive performance to secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tanzania at the Stade Laurent Pokou.
Right from the start, the Moroccans took control of the game and created several goal-scoring opportunities.
However, it was in the 39th minute when they finally broke the deadlock.
Hakim Ziyech’s free-kick was saved by the Tanzanian goalkeeper, Salum Manula, but Roman Saiss was quick to react and put the rebound into the back of the net.
In the second half, Tanzania’s chances of making a comeback were severely hampered after Novatus Miroshi was shown his second yellow card in the 70th minute.
This resulted in Tanzania being reduced to ten men, and Morocco took absolute control of the game from there.
