The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced strict measures to control picture and video recording at the burial of the late actor Junior Pope, who tragically died in a boat accident on April 10.
The Guild has mandated that all journalists and bloggers must be accredited by the deceased’s family to attend and cover the event.
AGN President, Emeka Rollas, announced via Instagram on Tuesday.
He stated that the Guild has selected 30 representatives from five state chapters—Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Enugu—to attend the ceremony.
These representatives will be provided with official T-shirts and transportation to ensure a unified presence.
Rollas emphasized that only official photographers would be permitted to take pictures and videos during the burial proceedings.
This measure aims to maintain a respectful and solemn atmosphere, free from the distractions and intrusions of unofficial recording.
In his statement, Rollas outlined the coordination process for the representatives:
“In preparation for the burial of our departed colleague, Junior Pope, we have appointed 30 representatives each from these five state chapters—Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Enugu. These representatives will have access to a conveying bus and will receive official T-shirts for their respective state chapters.”
He urged members within these states to contact their respective AGN state chapter chairmen to participate.
Additionally, those wishing to attend independently were advised to reach out to the Guild to obtain their official T-shirts.
Rollas underscored the importance of maintaining a respectful and dignified environment during the burial. He stated,
“It is a devastating and sorrowful period for the Actors Guild of Nigeria. Therefore, we shall not indulge in any unnecessary picture or video recording that is not by the official photographers at the proceedings of the final journey of our departed colleague. All press and bloggers must be accredited by the family.”
This move by the AGN highlights their commitment to honouring Junior Pope’s memory with the utmost respect and ensuring that the burial ceremony remains a solemn and dignified event.
