The latest addition to environmentally responsible motorsports, the UIM E1 World Championship, has attracted yet another celebrity team owner, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli.
The championship, which is set to begin in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia next year, has already garnered the attention of sports icons such as Rafa Nadal, Tom Brady, Didier Drogba, and Sergio Perez.
Kohli, together with sports tech entrepreneur Adi K Mishra, will be leading “The Blue Rising” team in the competition, which was created by Formula E and Extreme E founder Alejandro Agag.
In a statement, Kohli expressed his desire to inspire people to cultivate a competitive spirit while also raising awareness about sustainability issues, a cause that he has grown increasingly passionate about since starting a family.
The cricketer, who is widely recognized as one of the best batsmen in the game, is eager to cheer for the male and female pilots racing for his team.

Kohli joins other notable sports figures in the championship, including former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, seven-time NFL Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, 22-time tennis Grand Slam champion Rafa Nadal, and Formula One driver Sergio Perez.
With the championship set to make stops in Venice, Monaco, and Rotterdam, and with more venues to be announced later, Kohli is excited to compete against the other team owners in the electric-powered championship.
