The purported report of allegedly withdrawing police aides from some politically exposed persons and their relatives is fake and did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force or any of its formations.
A statement on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi distanced the Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun from the said signal MOPOL 45 FHQ ABJ.

CSP Adejobi emphasized that, the signal deviates from the Police’s telegraphic message structure and standard as the signal bears the signature of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), which he noted as highly irregular.
He added that a signal of this nature would typically be signed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), who heads such formations, and not a higher-ranking officer.
The Police Spokesman further added that the Acting IGP has taken immediate notice and has ordered a thorough investigation into its source while assuring that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for its creation and dissemination.
