Manchester City’s perfect record in the Premier League remains unblemished after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.
The reigning champions started the game on the front foot and took the lead in the seventh minute through Phil Foden, who finished off a slick, 46-pass move.
Erling Haaland doubled their advantage with a powerful header from Matheus Nunes’ cross.
However, the game took a turn for the worse for the home side when Rodri was sent off early in the second half for violent conduct.
The midfielder pushed Morgan Gibbs-White following an altercation by the corner flag, prompting former Premier League referee Mike Dean to comment that he had pushed him in the neck.
Despite their numerical advantage, Forest were unable to find a way back into the game as City held firm to maintain their perfect start to the season.
The visitors have proved to be a threat on the counter-attack away from home this campaign, but they were no match for Pep Guardiola’s side, who were able to see out the win.

Guardiola appeared agitated on the rare occasions that City surrendered possession in the first half and was cautioned for his complaints, but it had appeared to be a straightforward afternoon until Rodri’s inexplicable decision to shove Gibbs-White.
The incident sparked a heated exchange between Taiwo Awoniyi and City goalkeeper Ederson, and Guardiola switched to a 5-3-1 formation to protect their lead.
The victory came at a cost, however, as Rodri will miss City’s next Premier League game against Arsenal due to his suspension.
The midfielder’s absence could potentially give their rivals a glimmer of hope, but for now, City can take comfort in their perfect record.
