The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the results of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, accusing the All-Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating widespread rigging.
At a press conference on Monday, PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, vowed to pursue all legal and democratic avenues to reclaim what he termed the “stolen mandate” of the PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
Damagum urged the people of Edo State to remain resolute as the party takes steps to challenge the results, alleging that the APC conspired with security agencies and election officials to alter the outcome. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC’s Monday Okpebholo won the election with 291,667 votes, while Ighodalo received 247,274 votes, followed by Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata with 22,763 votes.

The PDP chairman called on INEC to review the results in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act and uphold the true will of the Edo people.
