The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has urged the House of Representatives to investigate the quality of diesel and petrol being sold at filling stations across Nigeria. Dangote made this call on Saturday during a meeting with the House leadership, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and his deputy, Benjamin Kalu.
Dangote suggested the establishment of a committee by the House to test fuel products at various filling stations nationwide.
He expressed concern about the damage substandard fuel products cause to vehicles and engines. Additionally, Dangote called for an investigation into the quality of laboratories used to test imported fuel products, proposing a comparison with the state-of-the-art facilities at the Dangote Refinery.
During the meeting, Dangote informed the lawmakers, who had earlier toured the refinery, that he welcomed independent testing of the refinery’s products.
He emphasized that such testing would confirm the high quality of Dangote Refinery’s output while exposing the inferior products sold by other market players.

The management of Dangote Refinery has recently voiced concerns about alleged attempts by international oil companies (IOCs) to sabotage the refinery.
They have also highlighted issues related to the importation of substandard fuel products. Conversely, the refinery has faced accusations of attempting to establish a monopoly in the market.
Dangote refuted these monopoly claims, asserting that the Dangote Group did not receive any special incentives during the refinery’s construction. He emphasized that there was no effort to hinder other market players from operating, reiterating the group’s commitment to fair competition.
