The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, has given Governor Siminalayi Fubara a 7-day ultimatum to re-present the 2024 budget.
This directive was issued on Monday, July 8, 2024, during the first sitting of the pro-Wike assembly after an Appeal Court ruling in their favor.
Concurrently, another House faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo is holding a parallel session to screen a commissioner designate.
Governor Fubara had previously presented the budget to an assembly loyal to him, which was passed and signed into law.

This marks the second time the Amaehwule-led Assembly has directed the governor to re-present the budget following a recent Appeal Court decision overturning a Port Harcourt High Court ruling that barred the Amaehwule-led Assembly from acting as members.
