Gunmen on Sunday night attacked Kulben community in Kombum district of Mangu local Government Area of Plateau State, killing 11 people.
It was reported that the gunmen suspected to be herdsmen stormed the community around 10pm when residents were about to retire for the day.
According to a resident, Nanret Ishaya, the gunmen who were in hundreds fired shots sporadically killing inhabitants running for their lives.
The operation which was said to have lasted for about 1 hour also led to destruction of farm lands, burning of houses.
“Armed Fulani militia attacked Kulben village at about 10:00 pm on Sunday. 11 people were killed, others injured and property destroyed. Arrangement is ongoing for a mass burial for the victims.”
Confirming the incident, Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Alfred Alabo said, “We are aware that something happened Sunday night. The DPO has been working since 2 a.m. and we are awaiting his report at the headquarters.”
