Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, known to fans as Simi, recently addressed the online drama sparked by comments from music producer Samuel Oguachuba (Samklef) and singer Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ (Brymo).
During an interview with media personality Angela Yee on the program “Way Up,” Simi expressed confusion over the whole situation. “Honestly, I don’t even know what these guys are on about,” she revealed. “They keep talking about me, but their comments are so vague, it’s hard to take them seriously.”
Simi remained unfazed by the jibes, crediting her husband Adekunle Gold for his unwavering support. “My husband has my back, just like any man would for his wife,” she said. “But honestly, the whole thing is more like a bad comedy routine than anything else.”
Simi elaborated on why the comments didn’t affect her. “They talk about having feelings for me in the past, or asking me out – so what? I have nothing to hide. It’s more concerning that they would disrespect me like this. Respect me because I deserve it, not because I’m married,” she stated firmly.
The drama began when Samklef took to social media, claiming to have once had feelings for Simi but never acted on them. He then went on to label Simi and fellow artist Ric Hassani as “the two most ungrateful artists” he’s ever worked with. This triggered a heated exchange with Adekunle Gold, who fiercely defended his wife and demanded that Samklef stop disrespecting her.
Things escalated further when Brymo also entered the fray. He shared an audio clip where he allegedly requested sexual favours from Simi in exchange for a music collaboration. Brymo defended the clip as an “artistic pursuit,” but it did not sit well with Adekunle Gold, who warned Brymo to stay away from his wife and family.
Simi, however, remains focused on the positive. “While it’s nice to see people coming to my defence, I shouldn’t need it,” she said. “This situation doesn’t define me. I’m moving forward and focusing on my music.”
