The Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, visited Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State following the tanker fire incident.
Approximately five individuals perished in the blaze on the East-West Road Friday night, with numerous vehicles reduced to ashes.
Days following the incident, Governor Abdulrazaq of Kwara State paid a visit to his counterpart in Rivers State on Sunday to express his condolences over the tanker explosion in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Abdulrazaq stated that the incident in Rivers State, along with the gas explosion in Ogun State on Saturday, underscores the necessity for governors to collaborate with the relevant regulatory bodies to develop safer methods for the transportation of flammable materials such as petrol and gas.
President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the people of Rivers State following the recent incident.
In a statement released by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, he instructed federal agencies within the state to maintain coordination with the state government to deliver immediate assistance to the victims.
The President praised the first responders for their courageous and committed efforts in aiding those impacted by the accident.
Furthermore, he expressed assurance that more stringent safety measures for the transportation of petroleum products would be established to avert similar disasters in the future.
