Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes has taken responsibility for his team’s appalling defeat against Bournemouth and has issued an apology to the fans.
The Red Devils suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss in their backyard, marking their first-ever home loss to the Cherries.
Erik ten Hag’s men were far below their best on the day and the result could have been even worse had Bournemouth capitalized on their chances.
The lacklustre performance prompted boos from the fans at the final whistle.
Speaking after the game, Fernandes admitted that his side was not good enough and they lacked the necessary effort and quality to win the game.
He said that the players are aware of their sub-par performance and that they have to do better in the future.
Fernandes also expressed his confusion over the team’s inconsistent performances this season.
He said that they seem to be unable to maintain a steady run of form and that they have to work on their consistency if they want to achieve success.
