World Athletics has announced the three finalists for the 2023 Men’s Rising Star Award, which is a prestigious award that recognizes the best U20 athletes of the year at the World Athletics Awards 2023.
These nominees were chosen based on their outstanding performances and achievements at various events throughout the year, including the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23, World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 23, and various one-day meeting circuits held worldwide.
The winner of the 2023 Men’s Rising Star Award will be selected by an esteemed international panel of experts and officially revealed on World Athletics’ platforms on December 11.
This award is reserved for the breathtaking performances of all the athletes under the age of 20 for a particular season.
The three finalists for the Men’s Rising Star Award have made remarkable contributions to this year’s athletics season.

The first finalist, Roshawn Clarke from Jamaica, achieved an impressive 400m hurdles fourth place at the World Championships, equalled and then broke the world U20 record with 47.85 in Kingston and 47.34 in Budapest, and was named Jamaican champion and CARIFTA Games U20 champion.
The second finalist, Erriyon Knighton from the USA, made a name for himself by winning the 200m silver medal at the World Championships, becoming the US champion, and winning the Diamond League races in Florence and Oslo.
His performances have been outstanding this year, and he is a strong contender for the Men’s Rising Star Award.
The third finalist, Emmanuel Wanyonyi from Kenya, is an 800m specialist who won the silver medal at the World Championships, was crowned Diamond League champion, and emerged victorious in Rabat, Paris, and Xiamen.
He also earned the title of World cross-country mixed relay champion, making him a strong contender for the Men’s Rising Star Award.
