The Georgian Cup, a prestigious polo tournament sponsored by FirstBank, is back at the famed Kaduna Polo Club for its 103rd edition.
This six-day tournament kicked off on Monday, October 31, 2023, and will run until Sunday, November 5, 2023, bringing together some of the best polo players from around the world.
The tournament, which is one of the oldest and most respected polo trophies in West Africa, was held in Kaduna in 2021 and was won by Abuja Rubicon, led by Hadi Sirika.
The team also featured players such as Bashir Dantata, Abdulmalik Gbadamosi, and Argentine imports Tolito Ocampo and Silvestre Donovan.
After a 12-month delay, the competition has finally returned to the Kaduna Polo Club, which underwent significant rehabilitation and remodelling.
This year’s edition promises to be exciting, with 4-goaler Bello Buba leading the best of selected home-based riders, and top professionals from Argentina also participating in the tournament.
Kaduna El-Amin is expected to feature prominently in the competition.
The team will be presented by Mohammed Babangida, the patron of the club, and will feature Nigeria’s best polo player, Buba +4.
El-Amin has won the Georgian Cup 15 times, making them a formidable team to beat.

Adamu Attah, the Patron of Fifth Chukker, will lead a packed +18-goal team, including fast-riding Abdulrahman Mohammed +3 and Fercundo Retamar +6.
Attah, a +2-goal player and a nine-time Georgian Cup winner, is known for his exceptional polo skills.
