Diverse Vocational Training Offered
In a significant stride towards empowering the youth, particularly young women, at least 500 women have successfully graduated from the Skills Acquisition Centre under the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development in Katsina State. These graduates have been equipped with practical skills across various disciplines: 141 in tailoring, 114 in leather work, 53 in catering, 27 in computer skills, 90 in cosmetology, and 76 in knitting.
Governor Radda Celebrates the Milestone
Governor Dikko Radda, who was present at the graduation ceremony held on Sunday, highlighted the event as a testament to his government’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ welfare and economic growth. He praised the dedication of the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development for their role in executing the training program with excellence.
Encouragement for Future Endeavors
Governor Radda encouraged the new graduates to leverage their skills for personal and community development, urging them to be catalysts for change and inspiration. He thanked the parents, guardians, and supporters for their role in the students’ journey. “Today’s achievements are not merely about certificates and skills; they symbolize the fulfillment of our promise to the young women of our state, that every dream is valid, every aspiration attainable, and every skill acquired is a stepping stone towards a brighter future,” Radda remarked.
Innovation in Education
Jamila Mani, the Special Adviser to the Department, shared in her welcome address that the centre has now incorporated advanced technology training into its curriculum. Over 100 trainees are currently engaged in robotics courses, leading to remarkable innovations like automated irrigation systems, traffic lights, and prototypes of self-driving cars with accident detection features. Mani attributed these successes to Governor Radda’s vision and support for girl child education.
Call for Continuous Learning
The guest speaker, Malama Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of ongoing education for women, reinforcing that education is pivotal to empowering women in every aspect of life. Her lecture focused on the theme, “Importance of Girl Child Education and Empowerment,” urging the graduates to keep learning and growing.
