Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has given an update on the squad list for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
He confirmed that two of the team’s key players, Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze, will not be available for selection due to injuries sustained during Nigeria’s friendly draw against Saudi Arabia last month.
Chukwueze, who recently returned to training with AC Milan, was expected to be named in the team for both games, but Peseiro has ruled out his inclusion to avoid any potential risks.
The coach expressed his disappointment over the injuries, stating that the players’ clubs pay their wages and they’re working collaboratively to manage the situation.
The Super Eagles will host Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Thursday, November 16, while Zimbabwe will be the opponent for the second match, which will take place at Huye Stadium three days later.
