The Assistant Inspector of Police (AIG) for Zone 2 in Onikan, Lagos, Alli Mohammad, has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to law enforcement with an “Award of Excellence/Special Recognition.”
The award was presented to him at the 2023 Africa Illustrious Awards ceremony organized by My Media, which took place in Lagos.
The Africa Illustrious Award is an annual and quarterly event that seeks to honour individuals who have made significant contributions to various sectors and have achieved remarkable success in their respective fields, including leadership, philanthropy, community development, arts, culture, and business.
The event also recognized thirty-nine other individuals who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.
Prof. Charles Esimone, for example, was acknowledged for his exceptional contributions to university administration.
Several sportspersons, including Chioma Ajunwa, Joseph Yobo, and John Ogu, were also recognized for their accomplishments in sports.
Other notable individuals and organizations, such as the Online Banking App 0pay, were acknowledged for their contributions as well.
The organizers of the awards emphasized that the whole idea behind the awards was to create a chain of good and acceptable quality service across Africa, through the personal examples shown by the award recipients.
In response to receiving the award, AIG Zone 2 Onikan Lagos, Mohammad expressed his gratitude and emphasized that Lagos would continue to experience professional policing with the security officials discharging their responsibilities in an acceptable standard.
AIG Mohammad also emphasized that the award means a lot to the police hierarchy because it shows that their tremendous work is being recognized.
He also pledged to continue providing a safe situation whereby the citizens of Lagos will sleep with their two eyes closed.
It is noteworthy that former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, is also a former recipient of the award as Peace Ambassador of all Time.
Other notable individuals who have been honoured with the Africa Illustrious Award include Dr. Absalom Dlamini, former Prime Minister of Eswatini, Prof. Monique Ekpong, former Ambassador of Nigeria to Angola, and Dr. Alfred Mutua, former Governor of the Machakos County in Kenya.
