A 20-man Nigerian Wrestling team is all set to arrive in Ghana on Wednesday ahead of the 13th African Games.
The team, led by Daniel Igali, the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), is fully confident and well-prepared to take on their counterparts from all over the continent.
After camping in Yenagoa, the team departed on Tuesday and headed for Port-Harcourt airport en route to Abuja before their final departure to Ghana.
Igali expressed his full trust and belief in his team’s abilities and stated that they are ready to give their best performance in the games.
The female wrestlers on the team include Mercy Genesis (50kg), Tolulope Ogusanya (53kg), Folasade Adekuoroye (57kg), Omolayo Kolawole (62kg), Blessing Oborududu (68kg), and Reuben Amuchechi (76kg).
The Men’s Freestyle category includes Simon Enozunomi (57kg), Simon Izolo (65kg), Braverman Oyeinkeperem (74kg), Harrison Onovwiomogbowo (86kg), and Adeyemi-Amin Mutuwa (125kg).
The Greco-Roman category is represented by Nworie Chinonso (77kg), Solomon Ulabo (87kg), and Augustine Okuro (130kg).
With the African Games starting from March 8 to 23 and the Wrestling event scheduled from March 9 to 11 in Accra, the team is confident of bringing good results to Nigeria.
