The Federal Government will arraign 130 suspects on Friday for their alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes, hacking, and activities threatening national security. The group includes 113 foreign nationals, predominantly from China and Malaysia (87 males and 26 females), and 17 Nigerian collaborators (4 males and 13 females).
The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated raid carried out by the Nigeria Police Force at a building in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja. They were found using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate their criminal operations.
The operation, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh, took place on Saturday, 3rd November 2024. It involved officers from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command Abuja and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).
The suspects are set to appear before Justice Ekerete Akpan of the Federal High Court for trial.
